Two Teachers Fight Bogus Fraud Charges
This story of two teachers being harassed for trying to advocate for students explains well why most teachers DO NOT advocate for students. How many teachers could cope with such abuse? Not many. These are two heroes! Note how the Ohio Department of Education is connected at the hip with this superintendent whose drive to retaliate far surpasses rationality.
One of the teachers made a value judgment that administering a part of a test she knew the student was proficient in did not need to take place and this superintendent jumped at the opportunity to accuse her of fraud and her colleague of covering up. With such unbalanced power, with a state working in tandem with a district, what White Chalk Criminals want, not what parents want and children need, is what takes place.
Keep in mind that these are effective teachers. Even if her judgment was a mistake, she had agreed to administer the part that she had believed need not be done, which would have solved the problem, if there ever really was one. This does not make her irremediable.
And what gains could she be seeking by such a decision to label it fraud? Not only does this story teach why teachers just do whatever they are told regardless of whether it might harm their students, but it shows that teachers must NEVER MAKE DECISIONS. They are treated as Stepford Wives, not professionals, and thus as time passes, the profession is no longer a profession. And people wonder why our schools are failing? Meanwhile, two effective teachers are being trashed because our schools are about money and perks, not children. NAPTA
